Japanese whetstones, also known as water stones, will make you look like a samurai while sharpening your kitchen knives. Our whetstone is made of white corundum with two sides (#1000 / #6000) which will help you sharpen and refine the knife edge, starting at #1000 when dull and finishing with the #6000 to make it as new. The whetstone will be delivered with a bamboo holder as well as a guiding tool to help you get the right angle.

Instructions:
Soak your whetstone in water for 10 minutes
Take your whetstone and place it in the bamboo holder
Keeping an angle of about 15°, grind each side of the blade
You will start with #1000 grit side to smoothen the blade
And finish with #6000 grit side to finish the sharpening
Some tips:
Do not hesitate to soak regularly the stone
Do not use oil as a lubricant, use only water as instructed
Always sharpen backwards not to damage the stone
With the #1000 grit: do the sharpening for about 15 minutes
With the #6000 grit: sharpen each side for 5 minutes each
You can either use the angle holder available with the whetstone or try the free hand sharpening which will help you acquire new sharpening skills. For both methods, well study the different techniques
